Caveman (New York)
Caveman is a relatively new aggregation, but the Brooklyn quintet plays with the confidence and adventurousness of a band with a decade’s worth of bruises and triumphs. Their 2011 debut, CoCo Beware, was a cinematic soundscape that successfully walked the wire between dreamy atmosphere and tangible power, while their eponymous sophomore album amplified all their best qualities in the service of songs that more fully explored their experimental side. In a mere three years and with two excellent releases, Caveman has expanded the parameters of Art Rock and Indie Pop while remaining completely accessible and brilliantly relevant.
