Dead Gaze (Oxford, Miss.)
Lo-Fi Psych Pop
Dead Gaze began as a one-man show, with mastermind and home-recording enthusiast Cole Furlow ultimately turning it into a full five-piece live band. Furlow makes trippy Rock music with kaleidoscopic, upbeat Pop melodies, then dips everything in an extra layer of grits and distortion for good measure. Dead Gaze released a well-received collection of the best of its past recordings on FatCat Records, which will be followed up the week of MidPoint with the FatCat release of the all-new Brain Holiday album.
YDIIYD: The Flaming Lips take a lysergic roadtrip with early, scary Jesus and Mary Chain, keeping the distortion pedal on the entire time. (MB)
