Potty Mouth (North Hampton, Mass.)
When Potty Mouth launched two years ago, bassist Ally Einbinder and drummer Victoria Mandanas provided a seasoned rhythm section, but guitarists Abby Weems and Phoebe Harris had never played before and learned on the fly. That is some true kamikaze Punk shit, a WTF ethic that translates to the swaggering naivete of the band’s catalog to date, from the Pylon/B-52’s dissonant melodicism of their 2011 six-song EP Sun Damage to the slightly less abrasive but no less intense sonic assault of their freshly released full-length debut, Hell Bent. Even with the slight upturn in their Pop sensibilities, it’s quite clear that Potty Mouth has little interest in becoming the all-girl Blink-182, they just want to sweeten their approach by doing what they already do pretty damn well just a little bit better. Set your phaser to mosh … it’s Potty time.
