The three members of Public met in their high school Jazz band, bonded over a mutual love for Led Zeppelin and started writing songs that showed serious potential, especially coming from such a young group. Originally calling themselves Crown, they changed the name to the equally unGoogleable Public and released the four-track EP Red last year, helping to earn them a nomination for “Best New Artist” at the 2012 Cincinnati Entertainment Awards. If “Honeybee,” a single released as a preview of the next Public EP, is any indication, the members of Public continue to blossom into their own sound and the writing is only getting better.
