Queen City Project recaps MPMF.12. Check it out here!
More artists have been announced for the 2011 MidPoint Music Festival Sept. 22-24 in downtown Cincinnati and Over-the-Rhine:
The Joy Formidable [United Kingdom] play what Spin considers to be "drenched in fuzzy bass, propelled by ... driving percussion ... (that) transforms ear-stabbing reverb into something pretty, airy, girly and sometimes dark." Have a look and listen here.
The Bright Light Social Hour [Austin] needed a trophy case after the 2011 Austin Music Awards, winning Band of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year — and each member took home an award for his respective instrument. Have a look and listen here.
NewVillager [San Francisco/New York]. Stereogum writes, "I love how the deep-voiced chorus contrasts with the lightness of the strings and reversed samples; the effect's joyous, soulful." Have a look and listen here.
Vandaveer [Washington D.C.]. "She just sort of will stop you, literally, in whatever you're doing when you hear her voice for the first time," says Mark Charles Heidinger of his Vandaveer mate, Rose Guerin, in an interview with Paste. Have a look and listen here.
Chamberlin [Vermont] is the biggest band from Vermont that no one there has ever really heard of. Opportunity came a knockin', and Chamberlin kicked off 2011 supporting Grace Potter & the Nocturnals on tour. Have a look and listen here.
They join previously announced performers Okkervil River, Cut Copy, Kaki King, Gang Gang Dance, Those Darlins, The Low Anthem, Jessica Lea Mayfield, Mates of State and other acts as the initial performers confirmed for MPMF.11.
